David Philip Publishers t/a New Africa Books logo

New Africa Books, incorporating David Philip Publishers, is one of South Africa’s oldest independent publishing houses. Since the 1970s, we’ve built a diverse catalogue of fiction and non-fiction for all ages. We focus on publishing children’s books in all eleven official South African languages with selected titles that include sign language. Our titles have received numerous awards, including Pendoring Awards for Amonge Sinxoto’s My Big Name and Sewela Langeni’s Making Friends with Feelings. Other acclaimed works include Lebohang Masango’s Mpumi’s Magic Beads and several books by Nicolaas Maritz. Our content proudly reflects African stories, and we welcome new voices like Gomolemo Moagi, Subi Bosa, Loyiso Mkize (KWEZI comics), Ouma Katrina Esau, Buhle Ngaba, Nokuthula Mazibuko Msimang, and Stanley Grootboom to our growing family.
