Femrite – Uganda Women Writers Association logo

FEMRITE, the Uganda Women Writers’ Association, is a pioneering literary organization established in 1995. Focused primarily on empowering women writers, FEMRITE publishes both fiction and nonfiction works. The organization’s core mission involves training women in writing, publishing their creative works, and promoting their voices in literature. While women’s issues remain central to FEMRITE’s purpose, the organization has expanded to include some programs for all writers, addressing shared challenges like limited publishing opportunities. FEMRITE actively works to nurture a vibrant literary culture in Uganda, amplifying diverse voices and stories that might otherwise go unheard.
