AkooBooks Limited

AkooBooks Audio, established in 2018, is West Africa’s first dedicated audiobook publisher and digital streaming platform focusing on Black and African content. Our diverse audio catalogue features titles in English, French, and African languages across various genres, including literature, history, memoirs, and romance. We’re committed to combatting illiteracy in Africa through audio storytelling and by engaging indigenous narrators who authentically portray African voices and experiences. Our audiobook productions have been Audie Awards finalists and received praise from Kirkus Reviews. In 2025, AkooBooks will produce audio versions of the Apollo Africa series from Bloomsbury UK, featuring 100 titles from the historic Heinemann African Writers Series. The Apollo Africa Audio series brings these iconic works to life aurally with contemporary African narrators, preserving and celebrating African literary heritage through the spoken word.
